Who: Since 1995, the Houston franchise of America's Original Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, Mystery Cafe, has entertained and kept audiences guessing with their special version of the Whodunit - wacky characters committing comic mayhem on each other, all involved in a plot with more twists and turns than a Picasso painting.
What (or, What exactly is Comedy Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre?): Each Mystery Cafe show is four acts in length, following the traditional structure of the mystery: introduce the zany characters, kill at least one of them, and then figure out who did it.
During each of the three breaks between acts, a different course of the meal is served and the characters mingle with the audience, trying to make sense of the mini-puzzles included in the clue packets. Vital information may also be obtained from the characters by employing the bribe money provided, but be careful - some of these people aren't too trustworthy.
During the breaks, time is also taken to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, and more than once... wedding proposals!

At the end of the evening, each audience member details on their solution sheet who they think Did It and Why... and the person with the most correct answer is named the Super Sleuth of the evening and awarded a prize!
Seating for Mystery Cafe is banquet style*, meaning that there is no stage for you to uncomfortably crane your neck toward - the action happens all around you. Or as one actor said, "The show is like an amoeba, surrounding, engulfing, and eventually devouring you." Don't worry, we've made sure he's taking his medication now.
*Parties of 11 or more will be seated at adjacent tables
Our dress code is described as "dressy casual". Though full formal wear has been in attendance at our performances, you'll feel equally at ease in jeans or slacks with a nice shirt or blouse. No shoes, no shirt, no slaughter.

WHY IS THERE A LOWER SEATING LIMIT?Very rarely, we find it necessary to cancel a show due to a lack of reservations. It is unfortunately impractical to perform our shows for less than 20 people at a time, due both to the interactive nature of our shows - the competitive atmosphere can decline significantly with a small group - and to simple economics. Rest assured, on the infrequent occasion that we must cancel a show, we shall work overtime to reschedule you to your satisfaction. |

Why: In our years of performance, Mystery Cafe has entertained literally thousands of Houstonians who were seeking novel ways of celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, prom nights, Mother's, Father's and Grandparent's Days, or just seeking a good time. We've also hosted many local companies and organizations, including:
